This July my painting “Floating at high tide” was selected for the Summer Exhibition at CCA Galleries International at Hill Street in St Helier, Jersey. The exhibition is modelled on the annual Royal Academy Summer Exhibition. The works selected undergo 2 judging processes by professional artists who this year included Tom Hammock, Ben Johnson, and Sue Timney. It was amazing to be a finalist again this year, as every year the competition gets stronger and better.
This painting features a variety of seaweeds and sea creatures local to Jersey waters, in a restricted colour scheme of shades of blue and orange. It was inspired by the view from above the water at high tide when these seaweed varieties appear to float and dance to the rhythm of the sea currents, a view seen from above or under the water. I loved painting on a larger scale for this exhibition and watch this space for more to come……!
